What Are the Minimum System Requirements for GoPro Player?

by GoPro ‎10-22-2019 05:48 PM - edited ‎08-06-2020 10:15 PM
Question
What type of computer do I need to be able to use GoPro Player?

Where does it apply?
  • GoPro Player - Mac
  • GoPro MAX Exporter - Windows

Answer
HEADS UP: GoPro MAX will render .360 files which you can import into the GoPro Player/MAX Exporter and decode to various codecs such as H.264, HEVC, CineForm or ProRes(Mac ONLY).

MAC OSX
Any Apple desktop computer capable of running macOS® Mojave 10.14 or later

Graphics cards need HEVC decoders in order to achieve smooth playback. If your graphics card decodes anything under 4k, then there's a likely chance that you'll experience playback issues while using the GoPro Player.

PRO-TIP: Your computer will not smoothly playback .360 files in the GoPro Player if it doesn't have the proper HEVC hardware decoders. If you run into choppy playback issues, export your entire .360 file to 4K resolution using the H.264 codec and re-import that file to achieve smoother playback for editing.

WINDOWS
Operating System: Windows 10®
RAM: At least 6GB
GPU: Any GPU that can decode HEVC

Graphics Cards need HEVC decoders in order to properly use this tool. Please refer to the list of recommended graphics cards below to see if your computer meets the requirements.

PRO-TIP: Use the CineForm codec for exporting if your computer's graphics card isn't mentioned on the list below.
