Quik For Mobile - Choppy Playback

Question
Why are my videos choppy when I play them in Quik for mobile?

Where does it apply?
  • Quik for mobile
  • iOS Devices
  • Android Devices

Answer
Choppy playback is typically an issue with lower-end or outdated Android and iOS devices.
Additionally, devices that have larger projects with 50 to 100 videos/photographs may experience choppy playback as well. The same amount of assets may cause the app to crash. Basically, the device can't keep up the live rendering of your video and you’ll get a memory crash. Quik is a demanding app. The less powerful your device is, the more likely that it will crash.

Troubleshooting:
Close out other apps.
Restart Quik: exit project, save it as a draft, exit and kill app, start it again.
Try a simple video style such as: Grammy or Raw (video styles such as Action and Lapse are more demanding)
Delete and reinstall Quik: However, deleting the app deletes all its content - video and drafts - so make sure you saved all videos to your device.
