What is Live Preview
Live Preview is a GoPro Quik feature that allows the user to see a connected camera's view. This can be very helpful for setting up shots when the camera is mounted in difficult spots and it is hard to see the camera's back LCD screen.
Live Preview before recording
Users who pair GoPro Quik with any GoPro camera via Wi-Fi can use Live Preview before recording in any resolution or FPS. GoPro Quik defaults to a BLE connection, so to use Live Preview Wi-Fi must first be enabled(HERO8, MAX, HERO9). Click the [Enable Preview] button in the app to change the connection to Wi-Fi and allow Live Preview.
Live Preview while recording
In many cases, a Wi-Fi connection between the camera and GoPro Quik enables Live Preview while recording. However, it is important to remember there are scenarios in which Live Preview is not supported while recording video.
Below are details on when Live Preview while recording is not available:
- Using BLE connection
- HERO9: All resolutions and FPS
- Night Lapse: All camera models
- HERO8, MAX, and older: At high resolutions and FPS. Each camera is different. If you need Live Preview, then lower the resolution and/or FPS to find which setting supports Live Preview.
