Re: Wrong dates for files in GoPro plus
[ New ]@epicboost16310 That oddly makes sense. Annoying. But so is the Hero8 not being able to set it's clock via GPS. Sure, there are use cases where you don't want that but 99% of the time, having the clock set automatically would be preferable.

Re: Wrong dates for files in GoPro plus
[ New ]@lemonata the camera does not have syncing to external NTP servers. So, the two ways today are on the camera itself and when the camera connects to the app. I do understand there being some frustration with the date/time especially if you are trying to organize it. Hopefully the change that we will put in the web to allow you to set the time in addition to the date will help for media that has the incorrect timestamp. Do note that change is only in the metadata that we store in the cloud and not in the actual source itself.
Thanks

Re: Wrong dates for files in GoPro plus
[ New ]@epicboost16310 How does the GPS in the camera work? GPS normally functions by comparing the times in the packets from the satellites to a local time and using the difference in time to work out distances from the satellites. This means the GPS receiver must have an accurate clock. Maybe the newer low-power GPS receivers work differently?

Re: Wrong dates for files in GoPro plus
[ New ]@lemonata I don't quite know honestly :-) I work in cloud engineering. I will see if I can get more information on how GPS is used.

Re: Wrong dates for files in GoPro plus
[ New ]I have also noticed that file sorting [by date] in the app changes after you touch a file! Like upload it to cloud manually via plus.gopro.com. Since auto-upload doesn't work for me [again] I'm uploading files via plus.gopro.com on my ipad directly from SD card connected via usb-c adapter. Every time I upload the file - it changes some metardata about it and the file gets sorted to current date (today) not the date the media was taken.

Re: Wrong dates for files in GoPro plus
[ New ]@borisv613 I can take a look at the metadata we have in the cloud. Can you send me a link from the web media library(click on the item in your library) ? It should look like this:
https://plus.gopro.com/media-library/auasj713431
Thanks

Re: Wrong dates for files in GoPro plus
[ New ]I don't envy @epicboost16310. He has to manage mulitple dates (date/time recorded based on camera settings, date/time uploaded, date/time edited) and then figure out how to sort logically based on those three date/times and the different time zones. And then if the sorting is happening in javascript (in your brower), it might depend on the locale and time zone your browser is setup for. I'm glad to see someone who knows what they are talking about responding to our questions!
