is there a way to remove wind noise on a hero 5 in the studio during editing?

I am very new to editing . I am trying to add music to a clip, there is wind noise, not to bad. When I add the music it lays in very low volume, so when I turn up the volume to hear the music the wind noise overpowers the music. Also, I would much rather hear my motor than the wind noise. any suggestions?

You can either lower the db on the video clip or mute the clip altogether. In Studio you have both of these options but that's about it for audio editing. To mute you just click the little speaker icon on the video. The db adjustment is on the right pane in Step 2.

Thanks, also wondering if you can go back and add music afterwards? Have you ever tried putting tape over the speaker openings?

@robertw474 - You can add music in during the editing process. Quik will replace all of the audio with one of our music tracks, and you can use Studio to add in a song of your choice.

@robertw474

You can turn down the db under the audio tab in Step 2 of Studio but this will reduce all audio from the video.  The best way to manage wind is to use wind reduction in your audio settings with the camera.  Additionally, you can use the Protune Audio to create a seperate high quality audio file.  There are free programs like audacity that allow you to manipulate the sound file and add filters to reduce unwanted noise like wind, however this takes quite a bit of practice to perfect.  There are other options include using external mics with wind socks but without knowing how you are using the camera and what you are hoping to achieve in the way of sound, it's hard to give more percise advice.

Thanks for the info, I am using it on a touring motorcycle, wanting to capture clips of our cross country trip. I would not mind hearing a little bit of the engine sound. Can you just put a little piece of tape over the mic holes, for no sound. Then add music for a sound track?

I'm not sure if tape alone will do it. Maybe if you put a little cotton or foam over the mic first.

Thanks, I will test it out.
