If you can find them in stock then by all means share the info. They are not available or in stock based upon a google search looking at the first and second page. No one has stock, not GoPro, B&H, Amazon, Guitar Center, Best Buy, Fry's, etc. Online or in store. By all means share your findings with the rest of us.
This should be built into the camera to begin with. Competitors include this simply 3.5mm plug now. GoPro needs to include this in the GoPro Hero 8 for sure.

This was a complete miss on the part of GoPro. I hope whoever came up with the idea of requiring a proprietary adapter wihout considering supplying the demand for it was given their pink slip.
I check every evening for availability on the GoPro site as well as three other sources and it is always 'out of stock'.
My suggestion to anybody else thinking of buying a GoPro where audio is a requirment: Avoid the 6 & 7. There are better choices in action cams where audio is key for the content you shoot. That will be my recommendation to anybody who askes until GoPro fixes their supply chain or publishes a patch to the cameras software doing away with the adapter requirment.

Maybe you are not following along, but the links you have are all backordered or out of stock. While your attempt is appreciated, it is not a thorough attempt to solve the problem. Dig deeper and you'll see that those of us who are trying to find this in stock actually try to find it on every site and we are told they are out of stock, even if it doesn't say it upon ordering, we get a notice from the store we purchase from tellling us they will be unable to ship and don't know when it will be back in stock.
All you have listed are OUT OF STOCK. I ordered from Crazed Pilot, they are out of stock. I canceled my order.

Sorry, we do not have information when the stocks will be replenished. Please continue to check our website for updates. https://shop.gopro.com/International/mounts-accessories
Alternatively, you may check other stores/channel if they have it available.
@aragon1006 PLEASE TELL US ALL WHY THIS ADAPTER IS OUT OF STOCK OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
What kind of company has this problem after all these years? It's ridiculous and offensive to the customer/consumer. Ask the purchasing department when the company will get back in stock and stock running out of stock!

What's going on with the Mic Adapter? Only place available to buy has it at double the price. The reviews on it were horrible to begin with. Is it going to be upgraded or was there no demand for it?

Most likely, both. The Mic Adapter is not a high demand item as GoPro cameras are mostly used as Action Cameras, and most people aren't investing in adapters, mounts and mics required for the Pro Mic adapter. It's also very possible that the New HERO8 and Sept 2019 cameras will not require the adapter (hopefully, there is no confirmed indication that this is true or not).
The Pro Mic adapter uses a Conatex CX20812-11Z High Performance ADC. Conatex was bought out by Synaptic and this is most likely where the shortages are coming from. The price of the adapter is actually pretty reasonable considering the reasonably well-specced ADC and the build quality. While not officially waterproof, there is considerable durability enhancements done to the Pro Mic adapter to ensure it's reliability, even in extreme conditions. The entire PCB is potted in resin, and the exterior is a single molded piece of plastic. Even if you can't use it underwater, it would likely survive exposure to the elements. This takes some extra engineering during development, and likely adds to the manufacturing cost as well.
It's very unlikely that GoPro makes much profit from the sale of the Pro mic adapter.
People complain about the size, but it's large because it has a lot of stuff inside. The reason for putting the ADC in the mic adapter instead of the camera is for a few reasons. First, it keeps the cost of the camera lower. Second, it would have required putting more components to support the ADC into the camera, it would have increased power consumption directly within the camera, and finally, it would have increased the heat output considerably.
It's not known if GoPro is using Synaptic to manufacture the ADC for the Pro mic Adapter, but finding a comparable manufacturer and working out production is not a simple and quick task. Add to that the global shortage of components and the limited stock of the Pro Mic makes much more sense.
The best course of action if you need the adapter is to search google and get yourself on as many waiting list notifications from stores as you can. Also, check back on the GoPro.com accessories page every Wednesday and Thursday. I suspect people are purchasing in bulk for resale on eBay and Craigslist as the stock is usually depleted in a matter of hours (if not minutes) each time they get restocked (usually about every other week).
