Smart remote pairing with two hero7 black cameras

Hi, i have 2 hero7 black camera's and a smart remote. I use the remote on my motorcycle. I can not use two camera's at the same time because only one camera powers up when i push the smart remote's power button. The camera's are both connected to the smart remote

and the wireless connection is ON. The 2 new hero7 black camera's are updated to firmware 01.70

What more can i do to make the 2 cameras work together with the smart remote. The smart remote manual says that you can operate up to 50 camera's simultaneously ! They work just fine with the smart remote seperatly, but not together !!!

 

Can you help me please?

Make sure that both cameras are successfully paired.

I have just tested 4 cameras (2 HERO7 Blacks, 1 HERO6 Black and 1 HERO5 Black) and I was able to pair and control them via the Smart Remote.

See if resetting the Wi-Fi (of the camera that does not connect) will work.

Let us know how it goes.

@kawabiker, typically, this connection issue can be resolved by resetting the connections on all devices. I do have some suggestions that may help.

  1. Turn off the Smart Remote and HERO7 Black. 
  2. Reset the Smart Remote by pressing and holding the Power/Mode button on the remote for about 8 to 10 seconds. Leave the remote powered OFF for the meantime. 
  3. Reset the Wi-Fi connections on your camera. Go to Preferences > Connections, and then tap Reset Connections. 
  4. Pair the devices: 
    • Power off your remote. Power ON the HERO7 Black camera. On the back of LCD screen, swipe down from the top of screen and tap Preferences. Tap Connections  Tap Connect Device and scroll down to Smart Remote. Tap Smart Remote to enable pairing mode. Now set your camera aside and pick up the remote. 
    • With the remote powered OFF, press and hold the red Shutter button on the remote. While continuing to hold the red button, press the white Power button once briefly. The remote will power on and show two arrows moving towards each other. You can let go of the red button at this time. Now the remote is in pairing mode. 
  5. At this point, the camera and remote should both show arrows moving towards each other. After one minute or less, the camera and remote should pair. **NOTE: The remote may ask you to pair another, highlight "Yes", and press the red button to select it. Then, set your other cameras on pairing mode. Once complete on all cameras, press the red shutter button on the Remote to complete the paring process. 
  6. The remote should now mirror the camera's front LCD screen, indicating that pairing was successful.

Thank you for your time and effort to explain this issue. I will follow your intructions later. For now, i solved the problem. 

I bought a second smart remote and paired each camera to a separate remote. I marked the second paired remote and camera with a little sticker so i dont mix up the the remotes and camera's while charging or mounting on my bike.This has the advantage that i can operate the camera's independent from each other. Its not the cheapest way to solve this problem but i am comfortable with this solution for the moment. I placed the two remote's nicely together on my handlebar and what's more important, i can trust the camera to work when i touch each remote's buttons😉Thanks again for your comment.

Die GoPro Smart Remote Fernbedienung ist sehr unzuverlässigund verliert sehr oft die Verbindung zur Kamera und/oder hängt sich auf oder verbindet sich nicht mit der oder den Kameras.

 

Mittlerweile habe ich auch noch eine Hero5 Session am Motorrad die auch über die Smart Remote Fernbedienung gesteuert werden soll. Ich weiß nicht was sich GoPro dabei gedacht hat, aber diese Fernbedienung ist ein großes Ärgernis und funktioniert einfach nicht. Neben den oben beschrieben Problemen, kommt noch eine fehlerhafte Anzeige hinzu: Zum Beispiel zeigt die FB "Aufnahme" an, aber die Kameras nehmen nichts auf. Oder wenn die FB mal funktioniert, dann wird nur eine Kamera gestartet und nicht beide.

Die Smart Remote Fernbedienung ist auf dem Motorrad nicht verwendbar. Diese Erfahrungen haben meinen Recherchen nach auch schon andere Nutzer gemacht.

 

Meine Erfahrungen mit dem GoPro Service

 

Aufgrund der Probleme mit der Smart Remote Fernbedienung habe ich die Hotline angerufen. Nach 12 Minuten wurde der Anruf entgegengenommen. Die freundliche Mitarbeiterin wirkte leider technisch nicht im Geringsten qualifiziert und konnte auch nicht weiter auf das Problem eingehen. Mir wurde nur ein Austausch angeboten. Allerdings konnte auch nicht beantwortet werden, ob die neue Smart Remote Fernbedienung eine neuere Version ist oder nicht.

So musste ich meine Fernbedienung nun (03.05.19) vorab an GoPro einsenden und stehe daher nun erstmal ganz ohne da.

Sorry to hear about the trouble, @sunnydive5330. Anyhow, thanks for reaching out to our Support team, if you continue to experience issues with the replacement Smart Remote, try to reset the connections on both your camera and the remote.

If the connection drops, it can be because either the camera's Wi-Fi is getting blocked or it is eventually dropping. Have you tested this while in an open field, no visible Wi-Fi signal obstructions (e.g. concrete/brick wall, ceramic, water, metal, and mirrors) between the camera and the remote?

 

If there are no obstacles that can possibly cause the connection issue, you can try re-flashing the camera's firmware to help correct any errors with the current software installation. Follow the manual update instructions specified on this article: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras
