My Remo won’t power up and Gopro won’t help without receipt! Don’t give these as gifts!

 I got my go pro with remo remote as a gift. The remote won’t power up and I’m unable to get a receipt from the giver.   It looks like go pro has had this issue with a batch of these devices but unless you can get a receipt they’re not willing to do anything but read the line the customer service agent is provided.  “ i’m sorry sir, we will not be able to look at warrantee possibilities until you have uploaded a picture of your receipt or bank statement.”

 So much for replacing defective parts without question.   At least if it powered up I would know if I like the product or not.

I chased down the gift giver and asked for a copy of her bank statement. Awkward! She sent it and I submitted it to GoPro.
The company did replace it under warranty with a Smart Remote making mention that this would be a significant upgrade because they don’t make manufacture the Remo anymore. Short life for that little product.
I’m satisfied with the result even with a little hassle. Thanks GoPro.

For warranty process, a proof of purchase is always required.

Was the Remo originally bundled with the camera?

Or was it purchased separately?
