Is the smart remote compatible with Hero 5

@suewen - Sorry, I don't have a Removu to try out. Looking quickly at their site, the HERO5 is not listed, but it may be a better question to ask them directly.

I have been emailing/talkimg to to Bruno in Support about this, and provided information - and I beleive a case has been rasied.  Can you please liase with him.  I'm not sure what other information you want but it would be good to see GoPro tackling this issue proactively (i.e. test it for themselves), and provide an update.

Defintely compatible -- I have the 5 and it works fine with my older smart remote for the 3.

jf4, I'm also running into the same issue.  I had to disable/enable the wirelss connection to be able to detect the smart remote again!!!

Hello Manager,

It looks like it's a common problem with the Hero5 Black.  

I ran into the same issue with jf4, after a long period of inacitvity.  The Hero5 Black CANNOT be turned on via Smart Remote.  The wireless connecton must be turned off then on again to be able to respond the the Smart Remote power on command. 

Can you report this issue to GoPro development team to have them work on the fix in the next firmware release?

I have been using the smart remote (sku armte-002) with hero5 session and hero5 black. Results were similar for both models: took several tries to get it to pair up. power/mode and shutter/select seem to work but settings/tag seems to be ignored.
