Is the portable power pack safe to put in checked baggage on an airplane?

I feel like I've heard about problems with lithium power cells on airplanes.  Is this safe?

It shouldn't be an issue. As far as the battery is concerned, it's the equivalent to bringing a phone or tablet. If you are concerned about pressure damage, have about a half charge instead of full (you might have to show it works so you need some of the lights to turn on when you press the battery indicator).

Hi @coolwave54858

Except for spare (uninstalled) lithium batteries, and spillable wet cell batteries (the kind used in cars and motorcycles), all the batteries types allowed in carry-on baggage are also allowed in checked baggage. The batteries must be properly packed to prevent damage and short circuiting (terminals are prevented from touching metal). If it is installed in a device, the device should be turned off.

You may also check with the airline you are traveling with for more information as these guidelines may vary from airline to airline.

Thanks!
