It's maybe a bit unorthodox, but I can't get the right grip on the frame, so I've used my teeth to open it.
Your dentist will be happy!
Yes, very unorthodox, but should open when you fimly grab it with your fingertips and pull up (and a 'lil backwards)

First time GoPro 'anything' user and already I am VERY disappointed! Thank you Original Poster for the question and those that answered. I am an engineer with 37 years experience and practical application including repairing too many vehicles to count including a complete diesel engine rebuild. Supplying no usable instructions is subpar, relying on a user community to resolve other users' issues is UNFORGIVEABLE. Like the OP I was concerned about breaking something because of the force required to open the frame, even though I had guessed the procedure correctly (on my own SINCE THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS). Finally I found my way to this post and proceeded after I confirmed the procedure was correct, again thanks to all. NO instructions, incomplete diagrams on the box (like how to remove the camera and mount from the bracket on the packing box - it doesn't show that you need to squeeze the two tabs at the bottom of the mount, just "slide it out"). WRONG. Haven't even gotten the product separated from the packaging yet and already wasting time trying to figure out their STUPID (better??? HA!) way of packaging????? I understand putting manuals online to save trees and shipping, etc. but not having anything of use at all available ANYWHERE and expecting the user community to resolve GoPRO's shortcomings is unbecoming of a product (supposedly) as superb as this is (according to their perhaps undeserved reputation and advertising). I only hope it performs better than their non-existent documentation or it is going back. [Not] looking forward to all the other surprises that surely await me!
P.S. I had to register to post here and when doing so the web page displayed a failure - redirect URL incorrect, or some other rubbish. So I tried to register again and to my surprise I ALREADY WAS. They can't even get their website to work correctly! INEXCUSABLE for a "professional" enterprise. GoPro has a LLOONNGG way to go to get my respect back.
