How do I manually update The Remote?

I checked the URL below, but I can't update The Remote manually.

https://gopro.com/en/us/update/the-remote

Does anyone have a URL that explains in an easy-to-understand manner in videos?

Hi @godv

1. Download the new software to your computer.

2. Transfer the software to your camera’s SD card.

3. Insert the SD card back into your camera and power it on.

4. Power on your remote. The update should start automatically. Your remote will let you know when the update is complete.

5. Press the Shutter button on your remote to restart.

You may also reach out to our Support Team through https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs for further assistance.

Thanks!

Ej

Is there a video of how to manually update The Remote?

The Remote update didn't seem to work for me, nothing seemed to happen.

The manual update instructions state that the update file is a zip file but the file downloaded is a bin file.

However, as instructed I transferred the bin file to the SD card and followed the instructions exactly but no confirmation was displayed on the remote.

Is it possible to see what the software version is on the remote?

You need to transfer the update file to the root directory of your SD card.

Your GoPro remote must also be paired with your camera.  If you have mutiple camera's paired, when you power on the remote, you need to select the camera which has the update file on it.

Ok thanks, I did copy the update file to the root directory and it must have done the update as the version number of the remote is shown very briefly as you power it on and it is showing 1.2.0 so all ok now.

The manual update procedure described in the URL below, such as the downloaded file being a bin file instead of a zip file, is very difficult to understand.

Create a video that clearly explains how to manually update The Remote.

Hi godv

The mention of the zip file in the instructions is not correct, just download the bin file and transfer it to the root directory on the SD card and then power up the camera follwed by the remote and it should update.

You can see the software version of the remote briefly as you power it on so you can check if it does the update correctly.

Hope this helps.
