Hero3+ Black Remote Controller Copatibility

Has anyone been successful in paring Hero3+ Black Remote Controller with Hero5 Black?  Your suggestion would be appreciated.

Hello @georget88782

My bad. I assumed it was a Smart remote control that you have. I apologize. But the old Wi-Fi remote control should still work. Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYFn6jV41H8] - not an official GoPro video but one that may help.

Here is a supporting article: https://gopro.com/help/articles/how_to/How-to-Pair-Your-HERO5-Black-Camera-and-Smart-or-Wi-Fi-Remote

Let me know how it works out for you.

Thanks,
Marius

If you see the Wi-Fi signal in the remote you are not in pairing mode. It can be a little confusing when you look at the icons on the back of the remote, but you need to hold down the red circle and then press and release the power button. When you see two arrows facing each other, then you are in pairing mode.

Re: Hero3+ Black Remote Controller Copatibility

Hi danielr15,

Would you please show me how to pair them?  I turned Hero5 Black on and the RC on but the Wi-Fi icon on the RC kept flashing and the Mode button could not change anything on camera.

Re: Hero3+ Black Remote Controller Copatibility

Hi Marius,

I don't have Smart Controller.  My RC is for Hero3+ Black. My RC does not have the third button which has "Wrench" icon on it.  I selected the Connect - Smart Remote Control function on Hero5 Black but they cannot pair each other.

Your latest Smart RC device is very pricey, now.  Hopefully, I could afford later.  Thank you.

Re: Hero3+ Black Remote Controller Copatibility

Hi danielr15 and Marius,

The YouTube video suggested by Marius solved my issue.  What I did was, I held the Start/Stop (Red circle) button and the ON/Off/Mode button at the same time.  That was why the Pairing icon did not show up on the RC.

I had my Hero3+ Black few years back so I forgot how I paired them together for the first use.

Now, everything works as I expected.  Give Kudos to the GoPro Design Team that they keep GoPro fan happy in terms of Compatibility.

Thank you you, two, very much.
