Head strap mount will not tighten

[ New ]

I just got a Hero8 and it came with the head strap. The screw that came with it will not tighten the headset mount enough to keep the camera from moving. Is this a known issue? It makes it worthless.

Hello, @fantom777. Is there any physical damage on the mounting fingers or the head strap mount? It would be best to get in touch with our Support team for further assistance on this matter.

There is no physical damage to the mount. Straight out of the box the screw that came with it will not tighten it enough to hold the camera still. I will contact support.

I have the same exact problem.

It's a GoPro Hero 8 Black and a headstrap that I recently purchased in a bundle together.  There is no physical damage to either the head strap or the thumbscrew.  The GoPro hangs loose and cannot be used at all.  The head strap is worthless at this point.

No amount of physical torque will screw it in further, unless I use a tool with which I'm afraid I'll snap the head strap mount entirely.

I have alread contacted support, but I am answering this post because it looks like either there was a defect or a manufacturing issue.  More people should be aware if they are having this same problem.
