GoPro smart remote

Hi everyone, I've a question about the smart remote.

What happens if I connect a Hero 4 session and Hero 5 black to the remote, what happens to the settings once connected?

Do they (settings) change automatically? (for example; the hero 4 session doesn't have linear in 1080p)

Or do they stay the same untill you change something via the remote?

Second question; is it possible to change the settings separately via the camera's? Or does this apply directly to other cams?

Re: GoPro smart remote

Hello @mmjv

These are very good questions. Thank you for reaching out.

If multiple cameras are paired to a remote, the remote controls all cameras at the same time.  This means that individual cameras cannot be controlled separately by the remote. For the case of the HERO4 Session and the HERO5 Black camera, the settings will be dependent on the default settings per camera. Once the two cameras are powered on and paired to the Smart remote control, you will be given the option to select among the following settings:

  1. Default Settings - initiates whatever the cameras' default modes are. If the HERO5 Black camera is initially set to Photo and the HERO4 Session is initially set to Video mode, they follow suit once the shutter button on the remote control is pressed. For this case, the HERO4 Session needs to be manually (on the camera) stopped.
  2. Video Mode (for both cameras) - starts the recording for both cameras considering the default settings - for example, the HERO4 Session will record in 720p, 30fps and the HERO5 Black will record in 1080p, 30fps.
  3. Photo Mode (for both cameras) - enables the cameras to take a photo at their own resolutions (say 8MP for the HERO4 Session, 12MP for the HERO5 Black)
  4. Burst (for both cameras)
  5. Time Lapse (for both cameras)

The cameras will record/capture in their default resolutions and they can be turned on and turned off by the Smart remote control at the same time. I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Marius
