Re: GoPro Shorty Grip noise holding the grip due to smooth plastic finish
[ New ]Hello @quickcreek27233,
Which camera are you using? Is the noise observed only in certain conditions or situations? For cases when a minor level of "creak" could not be able to be avoided with the use of the Shorty or any other mounting accessory, however the majority of the time these tips can improve audio drastically:
- Use the rubber Locking Plug.
- Use the Skeleton Backdoor or the Frame; both prevent the creaking heard from the noise resonating within a waterproof housing.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Marius

It's the GoPro 5 black. The sound doesn't happen if I hold the camera without the handle. It's only due to the skin on my hands rubbing against the smooth plastic of the shorty handle. If I grip it super tight and don't change hand position on the handle, there is no sound, but that's not very feasible. It's not the camera itself that's causing it.

Re: GoPro Shorty Grip noise holding the grip due to smooth plastic finish
[ New ]I see. Appreciate you posting back, @quickcreek27233. The suggestion posted by @Anonymous could possibly get rid of the noise created, but as stated, not ideal. So far, we do not have any update on change in design on the Shorty but this has been forwarded to the team handling mounts and accessories. You may want to leave a comment/recommendation here as well. Thanks!

Re: GoPro Shorty Grip noise holding the grip due to smooth plastic finish
[ New ]Just bought the Hero (2018) and the Shorty grip as well as the Handler grip. The Handler has soft foam and you dont hear any of this noise when recording. The Shorty transfers the sound of your hand rubbing against the hard plastic through the camera bracket and frame with the slightest movement. If your grip does not change as your walking, its OK. However if you rotate the grip in your hand or adjust your grip in any way you get a fairly loud noise on the video.
The Shorty is a great compact grip/tripod but this issue makes it borderline unusable and i am very dissapointed. Its a shame that a $39 accessory from Gopro would not have gone through testing that would have revealed this flaw. I hope grip tape may solve it but a re-design to a softer plastic or some type of coating may be the way to correct this for the future.

Re: GoPro Shorty Grip noise holding the grip due to smooth plastic finish
[ New ]Very dissapointing buy! It is not possible to film with that, the noise from this peace of crap is horrible. And i bought it for 40€. Damet... There even the mount dimensions is wrong. I bought it with a camera a day before my son will go to vacation, and what? Its not possible to use it at all. What videos my son will bring home??? GoPro really let me down. The duct tape and change of the mount screw make noise little bit quieter, but GoPro!!! Come on!! Duct tape on the original peace of plastic, for 40€???? What even not fixting problem for 100%.
People! Do not buy it!

Re: GoPro Shorty Grip noise holding the grip due to smooth plastic finish
[ New ]Hi!
I've been thinking about buying the Shorty for my GoPro when it's the most compact tripod that I also can use as a fairly good selfiestick. As I'm looking around at reviews many people complain on this noise, both from the plastic and som wiggeling from the movable parts. I really want to hear how extremely this noise is, when you just change your grip but also when you are like running or jumping where you really shake it. Can you send me an example video cuz no one has given an actual example of how bat it is.
/Thanks for the help
