Hi, new GoPro user. Bought a second hand but looks in great condition and everything seems to work fine. Just bought a generic (eBay) hdmi cable but no signal to tv. The TVs knows there is something plugged in but no signal. Tried on a second tv just the same. Tried the cable on a digital camera and it works ok.
any ideas, how can I check the hdmi port is working without coughing up for a GoPro branded cable, or is that where the problem is.
tried various settings on video quality and switched between PAL etc

Please try to contact GoPro Customer Support to have it checked.
I am using thirdparty cable as well on my camera but it is working.
I think it's a faulty hardware. But it would be best to consult GoPro Customer Support, ask for their opinion.
They might do series of test as well.
