Format SD Card

Hello there.

After I formated the SD Card directly from the GoPro camera option, I cannot format it from PC.

I'm trying to use it to update firmware but it is locked!

I tryed to use "SD Card Formatter", but it show me the same problem, that the SD Card is locked.

I also tryed to change the regedit "StorageDevicePolicies", but can't format the SD Card too.

Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Re: Format SD Card

Hi @rbcastro

What SD card are you using?

If you're using an SD adapter, make sure the lock switch on the left side of the adapter card is slid up or on the unlocked position.

If it's still the same, try formatting the card on the camera again.

Thanks!

Re: Format SD Card

Hello @aragon1006

I'm using a Samsung EVO Plus 128Gb U3.

Yes, I'm sure the adapter isn't locked, I tryed other 3 adapters.

I tryed to format again on the camera, but it seems that GoPro write lock the SD Card.

Thanks.

Re: Format SD Card

Hi @rbcastro

This is the first time I have heard of such issue.

If you are using a Windows computer, try removing the write protection through command prompt:

Open Run, then type diskpart and hit Enter. Run as administrator.

In Command Prompt, type:

  • list disk

  • select disk n (where n is your Samsung SD card which can be distinguished by storage size)

  • attrib disk clear Readonly

  • exit

Once done, try reformatting the card again.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

Ej

Re: Format SD Card

Hey @aragon1006

I think the SD Card reader slot on my PC is malfunction! I was sure that the adpater wasn't on lock position.

I had to use and USB Micro SD Card adapter like this one:

But,I had to do the disk part command lines to format it.
