Connecting 1/4 inch tripod to el grande [ New ]

I've just purchased El Grande monopod /selfie stick hoping to connect a small tripod stand (the kind that flexes and bends like a clamp). The connection is 1/4inch, does anyone know if it's actually possible as I wrongly assumed I could do this after researching on the web. It seems that the El Grande has changed slightly in that there is no metal connector at the bottom anymore...

I have the same issue. Even picked up a tripod just for it not realizing the mount had been changed. Kinda an oof. My only idea is to use something like sugru to make a connection somehow but that would probably be meh so Ig ill just return the tripod and get the max grip.

So I'm thinking of buying Insta360 monopod and using that with an adapter on top instead rather some DIY! (I'm no good at it). I know that that stick does work with a 1/4inch as my friend has one for his insta360 camera.
