Long timelapse 5 days a week

[ New ]

Hello,

is it possible to set GoPro Hero 8/9 with a QR code to record a timelapse for a month/all the time but for 5 days a week (monday to friday) 8 hours a day (07:00-15:00)?

Yes, you can extend the construction timelapse using scripting to skip captures on the weekend.

The normal construction timelapse is like this:

mPdP>07:59<17:00!525SQ~!08:00S!1R

But is can be changed like this

mPdP>07:59<17:00!525SQ~!08:00LTues!1R

Use these QR Codes to program each day.

!SAVEmon=mPdP>07:59<17:00!525SQ~!08:00Ltues!1R

!SAVEtues=mPdP>07:59<17:00!525SQ~!08:00Lwed!1R

!SAVEwed=mPdP>07:59<17:00!525SQ~!08:00Lthurs!1R

!SAVEthurs=mPdP>07:59<17:00!525SQ~!08:00Lfri!1R

!SAVEfri=mPdP>07:59<17:00!525SQ~!08:00Lsat!1R

!SAVEsat=!08:00Lsun

!SAVEsun=!08:00Lmon

Then you start you command with !Lmon if it is Monday.

I know people wish this would be easier.

Wow - so how exactly is the QR code created?  By adding all of these in additional commands?

Or you can unzip the linked file into the SD Card MISC folder all the day scripts.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/64er3j6dj9k1agh/MISCdayofweekscripts.zip?dl=1

The !SAVE command just saves the script to the SD Card, so you can skip that step. These scripts are for 8am to 5pm, with around 72 photo a day, week days only.

Then you just need a start command for the day you are on,  for today !Ltues:

Re: Long timelapse 5 days a week

Hi, this is about exactly what I need for a project also. Only, I want a photo every 30', and preferably have the camera to shut itself down and start up automatically in between photo's. Is that possible?

I've been experimenting with the timelapse settings on the GoPro 9 Hero Black for the last days. That works smoothly, but doesn't shut down the camera automatically. It's not a must for me, but I think it will save on battery (although I plan to connect the GoPro to an external power bank. Anyway, saving on battery will make sure I have to check and recharge the power bank less often).

Combining the timelapse programming settings on the GoPro itself with the Labs settings for delayed action (in order to start the timelapse on a specific date and to shut down and start up automatically) doesn't seem to work: the Labs settings seem to overrule the GoPro settings. But the GoPro settings are much more easy to set ;-(

Thanks to advize.

Please explain, as you can combine camera setting and Labs controls. The QR commands just set camera modes, it will only do what you tell it. I expect you are telling it to override the mode you want.

Thank you for your script.

Could you edit it a little?

I woludl like to create photo timelapse every 10s (as set in camera settings) from Monday to Friday 7:00 to 17:00.

I've got more questiions:

1. For example the battery is discharged and camera is off - If I charge gopro on Tuesday at 9:00 - does it start takeing timelapse immediately or the camera will wait till Wednesday 7:00?

2. Script is set and camera is working. What if I turn camera off - would it turn on and start recording next day at 7:00?

3. Script is set and camera is working. What if I turn camera off for 15 minust and then I turn camera on - would it start recordng timelapse till 17:00 or wait till next day 7:00?

4. Later I'll try USB Power Trigger - can I mix power triggering and time triggering rules?

Thank you in advance :)

Don't use these scripts for a 10s interval time-lapse, as there is no value in turning the camera on and off between images (no power is saved with such a short interval.) You likely want to use the default in-camera time-lapse mode (maybe TL video mode) with external power, setting the camera to wake and shutdown only once a day, to save the hassle of recording unwanted night footage.

Test I tried: set the GoPro settings on time lapse, interval 30', no scheduled start time, record period 'no limit', and combine this with Labs setting 'Displayed action: start recording at a particular time' (all other Labs settings on 'not set'). That didn't work. It started recording on the date set in Labs, but didn't make the time laps at all, it just started video-recording.

Re: Long timelapse 5 days a week

This works fine if you remember to set your default mode to Time Lapse.  Labs behaves just like a stock camera will, waking in the mode that the menu is set to.

dT <- sets the default to Time Lapse.

!06:00S  <-  start in the default mode at 6am.

so dT!06:00S, will start in Time Lapse at 6am.

Thanks for the great advice guys!

Can this be used to capture Night timelapse on long shutter withthe HERO 9?
So a opposite schedule from say 2200 to 0700?

Ok, so I tried this script.
I set it up last monday and it did not pick up the Tuesday script.
What is wrong? I downloaded the exact script as written on Page one of this thread.

Seems there is bug loading a script within a conditional.  These should work, as the script loading is at the end.

Re: Long timelapse 5 days a week

I would like to capture timelapse with 5 (or 10) seconds interval, from 7:00 to 17:00. Every day (if it's possible everyday except saturday and sunday).

I tried several settings but it didn't work as it should.

Default camera mode is manually set to timelapse with interval 5 (or 10)  seconds.

On monday I set two cameras with QR code: !07:00NoC!S!17:00E!R, on tueseday nothing happend, on wednesday  only one camera worked like it should and then for a week nothing happend:

Re: Long timelapse 5 days a week

I would like to take photo timelase from 7:00 to 17:00 with 5s interval - everyday (everyday except saturday and sunday it ti's possoble with 5s or10s intervals).

Camera default mode is manually set to Timelapse photo with 5s interval. Camera is powerd with AC adapter.

I tried several QR settings but cemras doesn't work.

I set two cameras with QR code: !07:00NoC!S!17:00E!R but only one camera made timelapse for one day! Why there are so many days camera didn't do enything?

Do you have the battery removed?

No - cameras with battery were connected to AC Adapters. There was some issues with AC power on 30/31 and I had to use powerbanks to charge batteries - but it was solved 31 during the day.

Even though ther was no AC power - schouldn't camera wake up and start taking timeplase?

Here is another example (camera with battery connected to powerbank):

Not if you have the battery installed. The battery charging overrides the wake timer, so it will not always wake with a battery inserted.

I haven't seen that information.

So, without battery the QR code: !07:00NoC!S!17:00E!R wil do the job?
What about  sertting Auto Power Off - should it be 5min (oC5) or never (oC)?

And another question - what QR code or command use in situation like this.

I want to start recording timelapse during the day - from now to 17:00 (or from 12:15 to 17:00) today and than tommorow and everyday 7:00-17:00.

Re: Long timelapse 5 days a week

You don't need 'oC' part.  The camera will not shutdown while recording.

Here is the simplify command that does it all

<17:00!S~!07:00S!17:00E!07:00R

<17:00    If less 5pm

!S               Start now

~             else

!07:00S      Start at 7am

!17:00E   End around 5pm

!07:00R   Repeat at 7am

Thank you! That's what I need!
I'll try it.
What would happen with this code if there is power is off for a while? Will GoPro start recording right after power is back on?

No, it will not, as you will lose your wake alarm settings.  Something we want to fix.

Just to let you know that so far this is working a treat.
The times are a little unprecise though. It seems to take the image a minute before or after the stipulated time.
It is not a big deal for a long timelapse but is there a way of ensuring it is more precise?

Re: Long timelapse 5 days a week

The start time should be within seconds on 7am (camera time), but the end time is not very precise as the way that is implemented in camera is not very accurate. Can't think of a workaround that meets your needs.

Ok no problem.

I am testing it for endurance and power consumption now but I am very happy with the program.

Thanks for your help! Good job!

BTW is there a list of the program codes anywhere? like what the ><~ ! etc means?

It is not correct. Valid command need to start with > or < or ! or a lowercase character, depending on its function. From the previous post:

Random stops in the middle of the day points the known issue of timer no always waking the camera.  The wake timer was not intended for this purpose, Labs uses features like this in an experimental way with no guarantees. We will continue to look for improvements for the current hardware.

FYI, I am getting 2,5 days of stable running before it fails to wake up.

Then did not wake up again today.

Same again.
The pattern seems to be about 2,5 days on this script, then it will not load the next day or wake up.

And what is the thurs script?  Can I can't see the contents of all your scripts, you are mostly on your own for debugging.  It did load something, as "Load Script" message is present, but then crashed on something within it.
