Irregularly delayed motion detect AND command strings?

[ New ]

Dear gurus!

I want to start motion detect whenever I deploy a camera (might be morning, might be afternoon) and then have it shut down at, for example 8pm, and then resume motion detect at for example 6 am the next day. Is that possible? The only implementation of delay that I've managed to figure out would wait until 6 am the next day if I deploy the camera at 6.10?

Also, I see command-line-like strings shared a lot here, like the one below. How/where do I access that level of control? (can I do it on a cell phone?) (I've primarily set this up with the app QRcontrol as my use case is far away from the comfort in which I'm typing these words)

">05:00<08:00!SM2H10~!05:00N!R

If time > 5am and < 8am

motion detect with sensitivity hold 10

else

   sleep until the next 5am

repeat"

Thank you!

Re: Irregularly delayed motion detect AND command strings?

There is a bug in the Labs code.

[2021-01-25 21:00:04 53% 29c] false 21:00 > 21:00:>21:00<22:00!SM2H10~!21:00N!R

This should have been true, and the condition 21:00:04 is greater than 21:00:00, but it only tests the minutes and it should have allowed for >= .  This is what we will have to work around.

So this would work:

>20:59<22:00!SM2H10~!21:00N!R

You can be even more cautious with

>20:55<22:00!SM2H10~!21:00N!R

You can type commands like these directly into the QRControl App using the "Added Command" field, left center.

Thank you 0dan0!

Would that be the way to access the "start now, then shut off and start up according to X"-scenario that I outline above, or is there an easier way to accomplish a scheduled motion detection that starts immediately?

Isn't that what this does?

>05:00<08:00!SM2H10~!05:00N!R

If time is >5am and <8am
do motion capture
else
sleep until 5am
repeat

If not, you need to list out what you want to do, step by step.

Thanks a ton 0dan0 and sorry - I'm a bit slow. You are absolutely right. Upon further testing though it seems like my GoPro8 seems to drift a lot. When it wakes up, the time has already passed and it falls asleep again. :/ Is this a known issue or could it be something with my unit? Here's my latest attempt:

[2021-01-25 20:52:35 53% 32c] Read QR:>21:00<22:00!SM2H10~!21:00N!R

Clearly that went wrong, as it should have been able to handle waking 2 seconds late. Yes, the wake timer is not very precise.  Let me think on a solution.

Thank you Dan!

Let me know if I can do any additional testing to help!
