Inverted trigger with motion detection

[ New ]

Hi guys,

I would like to know if it's possible to say to the motion dectection to take a picture after just after the motion stop motion. Any idea?

Thanks

It is an interesting idea, although not implemented.  The best you could do it is use loop video mode so the motion capture doesn't fill the SD card, than have it take a photo.  But there is no "inverted trigger" mode.

The command would be something like mVL!SM4mP!S!R

mVL  - mode video looping (you will need to have created the video loop present first and manually)

!SM4 - motion capture and sensitivity 4 (once)

mP  - mode photo

!S   - take a photo

!R - repeat the sequence

It seems creative flexibility could be increased if triggers were separated from actions. Often the trigger (motion, speed, etc), the action (begin recording video), and the end trigger are all bundled into a single command. Imagine if triggers were separate commands that acted as program control flow gates.

"!SM6-5D2H3" would become
!(wait program until motion > 6)!2S!(wait program until motion < 5)!3E

Advantages:
+ A simpler program grammer. Fewer special case D2 or H3 tacked onto the end of complex commands. Easier to read.
+ Extending video capture on motion to photo capture or time lapse capture becomes trivial.
+ End triggers can be different from start triggers: record beginning with motion and end after one minute. Even multiple trigger gates could be intuitive and useful: begin recording at 8am (store open), continue until 5pm (store close), end when motion ends.

These changes would be good.

It seems doable to break existing functions into pieces. Simpler is often easier in the long run, because special cases tend to multiply then go unused. Think the movement to RISC in the 1980's.

So are you a paid GoPro something 0dan0, or simply an exceptionally enthusiastic user?

I'm a developer at GoPro, I worked on the original hackathon team that did the QR Code support.

QR Codes as a method of camera input is genius!
