Hero8 new firmware 2.5 – internal clock error

[ New ]

Hi all,

today I updated my H8 to lastest firmware 2.5 and put new Labs on it.

After restart and trying any of time conditions qr codes it fail, and goes into a loop.

It seams the part of internal clock is not updating while sleep and on wakeups it have same hour :( but it goes back to sleep and wakes up and over and over again (with 180s intervals)!

After cancel in menu the clock is showing the old hour :(

code:

mPN>06:00<21:00!180SQ~!06:00SQ!1R

displayed command:

START TIME

19:32:00

(2 mins)

button to cancel

qr log:

Please help!

Maybe could I get an old LAB's firmware?

I'm having the same issue on both 2.0 and 2.5 gopro firmware.

I was able to find 2.0 gopro firmware but I don't have old LAB.

Never seen that.  Factory reset the camera, and set your clock. Then report back if it is fixed.

Reset to factory settings, downgrade firmware to 2.0 then update via app and update with Labs but with same result.
The clock is stuck to the moment when qr code is read.
Any suggestions?

Show me the QR Code please.  I know log says: mPN>06:00<21:00!180SQ~!06:00SQ!1R  but I want to make sure the time and date is not imbedded in the QR Code.

Nothing wrong with the QR Code, and it works fine on my cameras (trued H8 and H9.) You might have to call support, but this is a weird one.

I left gopro for whole night and when I checked the clock, it was still showing time from when i set it yesterday :(

It looks like the internal clock is failure somehow, but it happened after upgrade.

I will try to go back to 2.0 firmware without labs, factory reset camera and chcek the clock again.

What else I notice, is when power "ON" GoPro at 9:00, and I left it "ON" for 3 min in standby, the clock was working and show 9:03, but after power cycling GoPro, clock goes back to 9:00.

Is there any chance to code clock permanently? using ex. metadata?

What I done before all that mess, was put the qr code for reading qr codes while recording with the code !MQRDR=1

There is a change you did something weird. To clear all the permanent QR Code changes use this: https://gopro.github.io/labs/control/set/?cmd=!RESET

Already tried that but with no luck.
After 2h of chatting with GoPro probably I will have to turn it back on warranty

You tried the !RESET command? It is not the same as a factory reset.

Yes,
!RESET and Factory Reset, downgrade firmware and update firmware with no luck.
Now I left it without battery to see if lack of power can reset rtc inside.
It just shows lack of reliability in this kind of application, which are long term timelapses.

This behavior is very weird, but it does seem like a hardware failure.

It's a second unit with weird behavior.
That's why probably I will let go of using GoPro for such a projects.
Maybe if there will be an open api for USB connection which could be controlled or monitor by Arduino or any other IoT hardware.

USB control, may or may not be coming.  We are working to opening up many way so control the camera.  Like into BLE, there is good documentation out there.

True, but first you need a reliable option to control on and off, power consumption and than any form of connection. BLE ok, wifi great, USB sounds like a solution. I'm curious how exactly CamDo works ...
