Re: mandatory login after upgrade

[ New ]

Just had GoPro app on iOS update to version 4.6, "NEW: OPTIONAL SIGN IN"   Sure enough no default request to sign in, nor need to play with turning the radios off on the mobile device to skip login on a temporary basis.   Thank you GoPro!

I'm still using an old app version which doesn't have any login requirement. Just fire it up and go.  You say the default is "log on/in" but you can change it? Once you change it so that you don't have to log on/in does it require you to log in for any reason at all or can you just use it like (my) old version? Do you have to keep selecting the don't log in option?

It's all in the thread, but in summary version 4.6 of the GoPro app appears to restore the behaviour you experience with an older version of the application.

Hello @edmundr08720

As @phils0216 mentioned, you can just use the app without even having to choose to sign in later. The launch page is already where you can add a camera for pairing. The only time that you will need to login is if you have a GoPro Plus account and you would like to access your media or your Plus features.

Thanks,
Marius

Good move, but nothing to thank them for - this just restores the default how it used to be. However, this: " If you choose not to agree to Personalization, we will still collect device and usage information, but use it only in aggregate, de-identified form in accordance with our privacy policy to generally analyze how GoPro devices, applications and user account are being used and how they are functioning. To receive customer support, if required, you will be asked to consent to GoPro accessing device and usage data stored locally on your GoPro device at the time you request customer support." is still inappropriate. We are not their beta-testers, and not their QA people, they have nothing to snoop around in my device.
