I was having an issue with disk being recognised by Image Capture and iPhoto BUT no readable files visible or import options.
I found by reformating SD card, SETTINGS, DELETE, DELETE ALL (FORMAT) enabled the disk to be visible in both image capture and iPhoto and enabled files to be read and imported in either platform.
No issues now with importing photos or videos direct from camera via USB in iPhoto.

I was having the same problem, used your suggestion and it worked. I left it running until all pics and videos were loaded and, I thought, saved....!
Now I open image capture and there are no images at all. Where would they have gone? I deleted the SD card :(
Any help would be appreciated!

The first thing to do is to take the memory card out of any device. You can use image recovery software (available all over the place and often free) as long as you have not overwritten the images with new data.
Try the recovery software on another card before using on your 'deleted' data. Know this: the data is not actually deleted but the disk space is made available for being rewritten. The data is still there until it is written over. So yes you can get it back.

I just wanted to say thank you. i have been trying this since Christmas to get my Session to work with my Macbook. I have other computers and a ipad so I had other ways to edit my media, but I wanted it to work with this computer. The short version is this, I NEVER would have thought to use a different cable. As soon as I did bingo there was my camera and the first import was completed. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!
