Re: Why can’t I direct play hevc from hero 7 to iPad Pro 2?
[ New ]Hello @marklight,
By any chance, are you recording in 4K 60 fps with 4:3? If this is the case, iOS devices will convert the footage into a lower resolution to allow for playback. You can read more about HEVC limitations on mobile here.
Thanks,
Marius

Re: Why can’t I direct play hevc from hero 7 to iPad Pro 2?
[ New ]I get that I can’t stream hevc video to my iPad Pro. I don’t see any reason why I can’t just download the video to my iPad Pro and play it without conversion. Instead it takes an hour to convert a 2 min video and then transfer it to the iPad Pro. If it has to convert, which it shouldn’t, then why not convert it using the iPads pro instead of the camera which would be way faster

Hi @marklight
Even if your mobile device supports HEVC, you will not be able to play back HEVC footage on your SD card via the GoPro app. You will need to copy that media to your mobile device to view it.
Are you getting any specific error message?
Thanks
