Why after so long is there still no fix for Xiaomi Note 8 Pro to be able to play/render 360 videos?

Hi,

MAX is a premium camera with very high resolution video capabilities. This takes a lot of processing power to run on a phones video player and doesn't always play nice with all phones. Even newer phones that might have older chipsets which is very common in Android can struggle with processing 5k and 3k video.

Please note GoPro does offer a free editing solution for 360 on Mac and windows computers which you can use and install today.

These are the hardware recommendations we have for Android users on app using 360 cameras.

Chipsets on phone:
• Kirin 980 or newer
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or newer
• Exynos 9810 or newer

Thank you very much for your detailed answer.

It would be fare to say then, that the least you could do is include in your Max's spec page, what you just replied to me! If someone intends to render and edit 360 videos on a mobile phone, which I'm sure a lot of people want to do, they need to know whether their phone can handle it or not. And if not, they need to know that their investment needs to be double the price of the camera, at least, in order to include the purchase of a new phone too.

Don't you think?

So now I'm stuck with a high end camera which I was really looking forward to get and a mobile that ain't compatible. I like your proposition about your free desktop app, but most of my editing happens on the fly, on my phone and away from home.

It seems my only way forward is to invest more money on a new phone, a budget I don't have.

Any suggestions on that?

Hi,

I'm very sorry about that. We do have a full article about 360 support https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/360-Media-Support-in-the-GoPro-App/ta-p/408043
Not all mobile phones can support the heavy footage of a 360 camera, be it MAX or any other 360 camera.
