Why I have to copy every file from GoPro app to phone memory to edit it in nonGoPro app?

Hello, since some actualization of GoPro app, I cannot edit any imported files (physically located somewhere in phone memory) from my Hero 5 Session. So every time I want to use different video editing app or backup video to cloud. I have to click on save to my phone on files that are already in my phone, so I have two copy of same file.

I don't understand why, it takes time and sometimes I don't have enough storage to have every video twice. Is there any workaround?

I just encountered the same issue. I don't use Quick and just want to copy the files to my phone. With this new version of app I now need twice the free space on my phone.

Terrible.

Please give us option to copy to phone without duplicating spCe

Hi @epicsand58723

With the recent update on the GoPro app, your GoPro media is now saved directly to the GoPro App. You have the option to save the media to your device once the media have been imported to the app.

Please note that this does not save the file twice.

Thanks!

But you just wrote what I already know and what I wrote in my first post. I just wanted to know why and if there is any workaround.

@epicsand58723

The Why is because by loading directly to the app it is able to auto upload media to the GoPro Plus cloud service.  It also improves the Quick story performance.  The answer to your second question, is no.

Hi @royalridge31316

Please note that files are not duplicated when saved from the app to your phone.

Thanks!

Hi Ej,

In earlier post you said it does save file twice, but then said it doesn't.

Can you please confirm?

Thanks, Barry
