Trimming 60sec limitation

Hey y'all,
when I'm trying to trim videos right away in the GoPro app in the preview mode, but it limits me to 60sec max., why is that?
Background for my questions is:
1) I often take long videos, but only need a section of 2min.
2) I'm trying to trim it upfront, so I don't have to transfer that much data from the gopro to my iPhone
3) My phone/the app "yells" at me for not having enough storage, although I have 6GB of free storage for a 2GB, how is that possible?
(It offers to resize and convert the video, to get it transferred to my phone, but I prefer not to, because don't want to lose quality and functionality like the speedometer).
Can anyone help with this?
Thank you.

Hi @blax5123
Depending on your device’s processing power, some higher resolution files may need to be converted to a lower resolution. To accommodate this process, be sure that your device has double the required space available for the content you want to transfer.
Example: If your video is 2GB, make sure you have at least 4GB available.
If using an Android phone, you may also check your app's setting to prioritize which memory to use (internal or external, whichever has a higher free space).
Thanks!

Thank you @aragon1006,
must have been the processing power, since I had 6GB available for a 2gb vid, I solved the problem with buying myself a new phone
Do you have any idea, why the gopro app wouldn't allow trims of more then 60 sec, before it gets transfered to your phone (like in the gopro preview function).

Hello @blax5123,
Which version of GoPro app do you have on your mobile device? I just tried trimming a video using the GoPro App (version 4.5) on an Android phone and I was able to get a trimmed video that is over a minute long (1.5 min) and was able to successfully share it to Facebook and Instagram (with further trimming due to the 60-second limit here). If you have not done it yet, try uninstalling and re-installing the app to make sure that you have the latest app version.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Marius

Hey @mariustanya,
thanks for your reply. I'm using version 4.6, but the problem is not the video length itself, the problem is the length of the trimming section.
So I can easiliy trim videos with 7min length, but it only allows me to trim 15, 30, 45 or 60sec out of the video.
But I would like to trim something like 90 or 120sec out of the vid.

Hi @blax5123
It should allow you to trim the videos without increments.
For iOS, maximum is 1 minute.
Thanks!

@aragon1006 so it's an iOS thing that it's limited to 60sec? Does Android allow more?

Hi @blax5123
This is the option available on the current app version for iOS.
The Android app version lets you trim/clip videos without restrictions.
Please continue to check the app/website for the next updates.
Thanks!
