Sorry about that, I hear your frustration, if there was an easy solution we would go for it. I understand what you say, I know it's really annoying and I've been shouting around about this problem for years - because we've had this issue for a long long time. Just trying to point out that I'm on your side on this as you saw I've been responding to users on this issue - and lots of others - regularly  :) The team has been hearing from me a lot because of this issue, and again, there's no easy way to make it work otherwise I know we would take care of it :( 

 

You have to know that editing 4K is also limited on iPhones: Currently importing 4K footage is only supported on: iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad Pro 12.9 in. (1st gen. & 2nd gen.) / 10.5 in., iPhone Xs / Xs Max / Xr.

For iPhones, the app just doesn't let you import the 4K footage at all. It's not just a limitation for Android.

 

Also: Quik maximum output is 1080p and it actually won't give a better quality if you import 4K. Best is to stick to the same import and export resolution. 

Exporting in 4K is a big challenge - file size, time, heavy processing... Importing 4K as well.

Yo edito videos importados en 1080 60fps y exportado a 1080 30fps.
No encontre solucion alguna al problema en el Galaxy A6+ 2019 y tuve que comprar un Galaxy A7 2017 con menos espacio, 32GB pantalla mas chica respecto a los 64GB del A6+ y mayor resolucion y tamaño de pantalla.
Yo tuve un A5 2017 con el q funcionaba Quik y A5 con A7 compartían Procesador y cualidades ademas A7 tiene mayor pantalla.
Me da miedo poder comprar un celular de ultima generación o aparentemente mejor porque quizas me suceda nuevamente y una vez q compras no puedes cambiar o devolver.
No se si funcionara en S9 o S10 y son gamas muy caras de telefono solo para usar y q funcione Quik.
Yo tengo una gama media alta aunque version vieja.
Desde samsung dicen ( resumiendo el correo de respuesta que les copoe a ustedes GoPro) que sus productos (Samsung) estan optimizado para un óptimo y mejor rendimiento aludiendo q el problema es de una app.

Yo pienso como cliente muy insatisfecho y ya embarcado en este embrollo si haberlo sabido de antemano, que tuve q sacrificar celular para poder seguir editando videos como me gusta.
No tengo la capacidad de cambiar hardware todo el tiempo. Fiel a su producto GoPro pensaba hacer el esfuerzo he ir por la Hero 7 solo por tener mejor estabilizador (que quizas podrian haber sacado actualizacion de frimware y asi poder tener tambien esto en hero 5 y 6, porque no creo q sea un producto tan viejo luego de un año o dos, digo esto solo como una expresión de deseo, porwue no perderian los "viejos clientes" y sumarian nuevos q llegan con su primer camara la 7), pero ya no tengo en mente la proxima compra GoPro por estos problemas, me contaban amigos que salen en moto y somos muchos los q viajamos, q otras marcas actualizan frimware para no dejar rapidamente obsoletos sus productos son mas económicos sin sacrificar calidad y edicion no tienen estos problemas entre grabaciones y smartphones.

Siento q su producto Quik se quedó en el tiempo no avanza en torno a los avances de smartphones y puedo capturar los mejores videos y tomas, pero si no puedo editar no puedo mostrar y el circulo no se cierra, cosa q si para el resto o mayoría de marcas.

No es contra ti mi reclamo, agradezco tu predisposicion y atencion, es contra el enfoque q tiene la compañia.

So I don't know if you're aware of this but in the future Quik App and GoPro App will merge into one single app.

You don't have to own a GoPro to use it, it will still allow for other media than GoPro.

In this vast and huge project which is this "NewApp" we will be addressing this big issue to the best of our ability.

Also: know that GoPro has contacted Samsung to try to work things out on this video decoder limitation but it was inconclusive.
