Quik Support for Samsung Phones

Hey GoPro,

 

You guys really need to figure out this decoder limit issue with Samsung devices. There are numerous forums discussing the issue, but no solutions, only, sorry for your luck, this is a Samsung problem.

 

Samsung is the biggest manufacturer of Android phones in the world and other apps like FilmoraGo do not have this issue. I'm no software programmer but if another smaller company can make it work I think you guys can too.

Here are some ideas when Quik detects a Samsung device:

1) Have quik downsample all clips to 1080p prior to exporting/cutting the edit (since quik exports in 1080p already anyways). Obviously do this 1 at a time, since decoding 4K footage has a limit.
2) Find a way to iteratively work with the given decoder limit on Samsung phones, ie don't call for more decoders than available.

 

Suggestions such as using quik stories or capturing in 1080p are not options. I can't always edit within the 24-72 hours when I'm backpacking foreign countries or out on islands. I also only shoot in 4K as I can recut longer high bitrate edits in all their 4K native glory when I'm back home in Premire Pro, I mean you make a camera that shoots 4K, we're going to use it!

I've been using GoPro since the beginning (owned Hero HD, 3, 5, 6, & 7). The quik app was a major breakthrough and kept me on the bandwagon, I would edit nice clips while travelling on my phone for my friends and family to enjoy. I used to do this on my LG G5 with no issues but now that I've bought a top flagship phone from Samsung (S9+) I can't. That doesn't make sense...

 

Please please figure this out.

Buenas tardes, tengo exactamente los mismos problemas con mi Samsung Galaxy A6+. Lamentablemente perdi mi Samsung Galaxy A5 en el cual funcionaba sin problemas. Hoy me encuentro sin poder usar mi camara dado que no puedo editar videos.
Las prestaciones de ambos telefonos son similares pero solo cambió el sistema operativo de Android 7.1.0 a Android 8.0.0.

Seguimos aguardando solución.

Como aclare antes en otro posteo actualmete tengo problemas y no puedo editar videos de GoPro como indica su publicidad y creo conveniente que indiquen con que equipos es compatible su aplicacion, para que nosotros los clientes podamos evaluar al momento de comprar una camara, dado que no solo se limita a la camara sino tambien al software y hardware necesario para editar los videos.

Al plantear mi problema me dijeron que me comunique dentro de un mes y luego de investigar veo que muchos clientes tienen problemas de compatibilidad y no solo en telefonos mobiles sino tambien en PC, desde hace mucho tiempo atras.

Siento una gran decepcion.

Por favor aclaren las incompatibilidades ya conocidas.
