No 60 FPS 4k Export on M1 iPad Pro using Quik

[ New ]

Hi,

I thought on iOS devices Quik can export 4k videos in 60FPS.
Unfortunately, on my M1 iPad pro my original 4k 60 FPS material will be exported to 4k 30 FPS.

If I export the same material to 1080p it will export with 60 FPS. Is this on purpose or a bug.

I thought you said somewhere here in the forum that on iOS devices Quik export 4k also with 60 FPS.

I have the latest Quik version and I am running iPAD OS 15.0.2

Any comments?

Hi @bubestube

until half an hour ago i thought 4k 30fps was the maximum. Then I was curious and took a 4k video from my Hero 10 black on my iPad Pro 2020 with 60 frames per second (actually it's 59.94fps, but let's not be petty) and created a Story with the current Quick App.
Export in 4k, high quality and the Story has, according to Quicktime Player, 60fps.

So it seems to work.

Hi franywe,

unfortunatly, I cannot conform. Even 4K 60fps videos shot with the iPad camera will be rendered only with 30 fps on my iPad Pro 2021.

Today, I recorded some more 4K 60fps Videos with my Hero 10 - same same, 4K export only with 30 fps.

Can anyone else check and confirm?

@bubestube @frankywe

Hi,

We have introduced recently the Export Quality Settings.

This option allows you to choose the Resolution / Bitrate and Codec of your video.

You can choose them when you are making a Story (multi-clip edit) and you are saving it to your phone

OR

If you made edits on a single media (ex: change a filter, color-adjust, speed segments etc) and you save this media to your phone.

These are the two cases when you will see the Export Quality Options.

However when it comes to FPS you are right, we haven't opened up this possibility yet.

In Story mode FPS right now is always 60FPS on Android and 30FPS on iOS.
When you are exporing a SINGLE media, you will keep its original framerate, but not in Story mode (multi-clip edit)

@haindash Ah, okay, I see. I had also only used one clip in my test.
Good to know, well Apple's own iMovie can also only export 4K at 30fps.

So I have to use LumaFusion again ;-)

Yes, both were stories, actually the same stories to be precise.

...like I mentioned in the original post, same material but 1080p with the original 60fps and 4k exported with 30fps.
