Mobile upload not working

To whoever can help me,
I have a GoPro hero7 black and am using my apple 6s (version 12.3.1) to manage footage whilst travelling. So far I have been going well although I have realised my phone is completely full and I need to make room. I have go pro plus but the mobile upload to cloud is not working ie all the media has clouds with clocks picture and not uploading. It has been like this for 3 weeks.

Firstly I want to know how I can get this media on my phone to the cloud (auto upload is too tricky being in hotels and not being near wifi source for camera). Mobile upload use to work and is not now.

Secondly if this cloud storage proves to hard to get working, can I safely delete media off my phone. ie is the media still on my SD card and won’t delete next time I connect or something strange of the sorts.

Thanks for reaching out. Mobile Upload runs automatically in the background, and the process will pause and resume as your connection availability varies, until all files are safely uploaded. When you’re in range, the thumbnails on the Recent tab will start displaying icons, showing the status of your upload. 

  • CLOCK - Item is queued for upload
  • CLOUD+UP - Item uploading
  • CLOUD+CHECK - Upload completed
  • EXCLAMATION - There was an error uploading 

Successful uploads will briefly display a checkmark. If an item fails to upload, it will be marked with an error icon, and we’ll try the upload again when your device is in range.


Upload time is dependent on multiple factors, namely your network speed and the file size of your content. If you are using a wireless network, ensure that your computer has a stable Wi-Fi connection. 

Note: To begin a mobile upload, your device needs at least 120 percent of the total file size of your upload available in storage. For example, if a content contains 1GB of data, your device needs 1.2GB available storage to start uploading.

Cheers Ann,

I have done everything as above and it was the deciding reason I got the go pro cloud so I could upload my media during my travels easily. Unfortunately it has not been uploading at all. It has been strong stable wifi and still no uploads, all of the media just has the queued icon, none have the uploading one. How do I fix this?

Also if I cannot can I safely remove footage from my go pro app and the footage will still stay on the sd card in the go pro?

@luker600, this is strange. I personally haven't encountered any issue with Mobile Upload not uploading the files through the GoPro App. I usually just leave my mobile device connected to the Wi-Fi, ensure that it's constantly connected to the internet and not getting disconnected after a specific period of time.

 

To further isolate the problem, see if connecting to a different Wi-Fi network will make any difference. You may also check for any application or system application (e.g. firewall, internet access blocker) in your mobile device that could be preventing the app. Also, you may test this out on a different mobile device if available

When files are downloaded from your camera to your mobile device via GoPro App, the media contents are just copied and the original files still sits in the SD card. Thus, unless you delete them directly in the camera or through GoPro App while the camera is connected (as shown below), the media files will not be removed off the SD card.

Just an update, I turned mobile uploads on and off (i have tried this multiple times) and they have started uploading again. They are just uploading god awful slow, to the point it will take all year to back up my media. I had to delete the media off the phone to be able to view the latest. It is a shame the cloud backup is so slow because it otherwise would be a streamlined service. I have tried it in multiple wifi connections and on multiple phones with the same results.
