Location services for connecting to an app?
[ New ]Dear GoPro Team, I said it before and I'll say it again - thank you for all the fantastic job that you've done!
And I don't care if FBI wants to see my dumb timelapses and music videos, but sometimes I have literaly 0$ on my phone and I don't want to instantly share my stories with everyone and don't want to see some news and some spam-of-the-day because there's enough of it in Facebook and Instagram.
I just want to connect my GoPro Hero 4 Sesson to an Android APP and to edit some settings.
How can I turn myself off from this magical Skynet, connecting only when I want?
Thank you.

[ New ]
That's were I can find it on my Pixel > Go to Settings / Apps & Notifications / App Permissions / Location > you'll see the list of apps.
Also you don't have to share your video to Facebook / Instagram etc... simply choose Save without sharing and the video will be saved in your device only.

Re: Location services for connecting to an app?
[ New ]I would also like to ask this question! I see a post saying that it's because it's a marshmallow bug for android 6 but surely it should be fixed by now as my S6 is on 7.0? Apparently it needs the location services to detect wifi signals from the go pros? Not entirely sure myself but it never needed this when I had my hero 4 session.

Re: Location services for connecting to an app?
[ New ]Hello @iano37,
Thank you for reaching out. I verified this with the team - all Android phones running Marshmallow or later need location services turned on to be able to pair camera with GoPro App. We will update the article you referred to - thank you for pointing it out.
Best regards,
Marius

Re: Location services for connecting to an app?
[ New ]Any person viewing this topic who believes anything GoPro says about it being absolutely necessary for the location service to be active should absolutely continue to purchase GoPro products and continue to surrender their privacy. For the smart ones it's strongly suggested that you research alternatives such as Sony, and knock offs. Don't become "used to" companies gathering and selling your data!

Re: Location services for connecting to an app?
[ New ]What is the reasoning behind this? Is there a way around it? Not only do I have to dig through the internet to find a version of the app that's compatible with my phone but now I have to enable GPS? Am I going to have to refund this thing?
