Were you able to try/follow the steps listed on the link above?
You may either use your personal hotspot or a Wi-Fi network to connect to the internet.
Your camera is supposed to be connected via Bluetooth when you start the live stream.
Let us know if this works.

I am so close to sending this back!!! This is a complete nightmare, I have tried so many things. Everything is up-to-date, tried reinstalling the app and reconnecting the gopro, but when I click on Setup Live it just spins and an exclamation mark icon appears (!) AND NO ERROR MESSAGE!!! I am a developer myself, this is SHODDY workmanship! I am so close to throwing it against a wall.

Please try to reset the camera and reinstall the firmware again.
Make sure that you have a good internet connection/Wi-Fi or Hotspot.
If you can somehow do a speedtest please do so that we can check.
