Hero 7 Black / Android Connection Issue (Wi Fi) resolved

Hi.

 

Just adding this solution that I eventually found to anyone that may be having issues with using the Android app with the Gopro Hero 7.

 

I was finding that I could connect my Hero 7 to the Go pro App but just could not get a live feed from the Hero 7 to the app.

 

After trial and error I remembered that my home network transmits in both 5Ghz & 2.4 Ghz frequency depending on signal strength.

 

At the time the network was transmitting on the 5Ghz frequency. When trying to connect my Hero 7 to the App I realised that the WiFi frequency on the setting on the hero was 5Ghz. I therefore assumed that the reason the app was having trouble connecting to the Hero & was due to operating at the same frequency as my home WiFi. So I changed it to 2.4Ghz and once this was done the live feed appeared.

 

So in conclusion ensure that your home network WiFi frequency is different to the frequency  on your Hero 7 (5Ghz or 2.4Ghz). Secondly, ensure that your bluetooth is also switched on, on your phone.
