Gopro 5 has bad wifi range

I do have a Gopro Hero 5. I managed to connect it to my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini but it connects very slowly and the range is 1.5 - 15 m. The picture freezes frequently and shows green horizontal lines. 

 

For the shots we want to take the wifi function is highly important e.g. from the mast top of a sailboat.

 

I updated the firmware on the Gopro in the hope to solve the problem but it did not help.

 

What can be the reason and what is the solution?

@redshore61242 - Are you seeing the green lines on the phone, or on the footage recorded on the camera? If it's on the phone, that's likely an issue of the wifi signal, but if you're seeing it on the actual recording captured on the SD card, then that's going to be a separate issue.

 

If you are looking for extended range, the app may not be the best option. Our remotes however have a much longer range and might be best for your shots.

thanks for the quick answer. No, the lines are not recorded.

 

I'll try the app on a Samsung-tablet. I'll let you know if that helps.
