You can choose whether you want to download the original or compressed file from the GoPro.com Media Gallery.
However, when streaming from the cloud or downloading via GoPro App/Quik for Desktop, the 1080p copy will be downloaded.
How did you play/download your Plus files?

I am having the same problem. When I upload media it is not going to the cloud at full 4K. It's 1080p - or so it says, but likely even lower quality. Sorely dissapointed with the rate of uploads as well, especially to find my videos looking poor quality at best.
How do I UPLOAD at 4K? Not looking to have the option to download a low res. I want the 4K to be defaulted. Thanks.

I understand that is what is supposed to happen. I’m writing because it is not what is happening. I see a 1080p compressed copy & resolutions ranging from 1600-2400p resolution. There is no 4K resolution.

Exactly, there's not an "option" or "selection" to view the different resolutions. I have found now that when I download to the GoPro app off cloud, and then download AGAIN from App to my camera roll / iphone photos, it definitely seems to be higher res, but there is not any way of confirming it's 4K because I was never offered a choice.
It's extremely tedious to download essentially twice to get the original format, and defeats the purpose of storing in the cloud if I have to load it on to my phone to see the right quality, no??

If downloading a 4K video to your computer, your download options will either be 2160p/3000p or 1080p.
2160p for 16:9 and 3000p for 4:3
As listed above, downloading files via the GoPro app/Quik for desktop will only be up to 1080p.
