I'm relatively new to GoPro, but luckily (or likely by design) use of camera, apps, website, cloud, etc is all pretty easy. One thing I still don't quite unsderstand is why when using the App on my phone (Android), some of the videos are in the "APP" tab, while some are in the "Cloud" tab. If I log into my GoPro Plus account, all videos are there. Can you explain this or point me towards an answer or document that will help me understand it?
Welcome to the Support Hub, @jamcd. Do you have your GoPro App Mobile Upload setup to automatically upload your GoPro footage to the cloud? See details under Uploading on the go with the GoPro app (Android) here https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Add-Media-to-GoPro-Plus . It could be that once you import media to the GoPro app, such media are automatically uploaded to cloud, and may have been deleted from the app. You are able to see all media when you sign in to your Plus account because all media are saved there. Let us know what you find out. Feel free to post back for any concerns or questions.
Thanks. After reading your reply, I think I understand this better. The videos that are in my "APP cloud" and my GoPro Plus cloud, but aren't in my "APP" were uploaded directly via my desktop. After that I learened how to set up my phone/GoPro to automaiclly. Since then, all videos appear in my "APP", my cloud on the "APP", and my cloud through "GoPro Plus". I'm assuming the latter two are actually the same thing.
What prompted this inquiry was my interest in getting these videos from the "cloud" to my "APP" so that I could utilize the automatic Quik Story feature through the Android APP. Am I correct in saying the automated Quick Story generator is only available on the pone-base App and not through the desktop software? My experience is generating Quick Stories on a desktop/Laptop is a more manual process?
You are correct, @jamcd. The cloud on the "APP" and the cloud through "GoPro Plus" are the same. Good to know you are seeing your media on the app now. It is also true that the QuikStories are only available through Quik for mobile, or GoPro app. The Quik for desktop app does not generate QuikStories. You can create quick edits through the desktop app though.
Thanks for the help with this. I must say, going from new to reasonably competent GoPro user has been far easier than I expected. Although I'm an advanced photographer, I've always shied away from video becuse it seemed so intimidating. GoPro, with their simple, yet powerful cameras, great sofware and apps, and great support have made it so easy. Bravo.
One last question. Is it possible to get a video from the cloud to the app on my phone so that I can use Quik Stories, or do they have to be moved there right from the GoPro?
