Go PRO HERO 2018 can't connect to Go Pro app

Dear All,

 

I just go my new go pro hero 2018 which I now try to connect to my Samsung S5 Neo (using the new go pro app)

I open the app and follow the instructions which states:

 

Swipe down > connect> connect new device> go pro app.

 

The Go Pro is now showing me the ID and password.

 

The following steps which i see online in various instruction by go pro and consumers is that i should connect to the go pro wifi.\

I did this. No problem and it's connected to go pro's network.

 

Returning to the app it ask again to connect a device again select go pro hero 2018. This shows me again the 3 step menu to see the login. You can leave them next to each other for the full duration untill timeout. However there is never a continue button or such as seen in video's. There seems to be absolutely no way to connect this camera to the app.

 

I am really considering just sending it back to the store and keep the money in the pocket. Which is a shame as i was very excited to start using the go pro.

 

Is there anyone who can please help me connect the Go pro hero 2018 to the app?

On your phone, delete the GoPro WiFi connections.

 

Now on your phone go into your wifi settings (pull down from the top and long hold the wifi icon).  Now click on the "advanced" tab that shows up.  Click on "Manage networks".  This will show a complete list of all wifi networks that you have connected to.  Delete any reference to your GoPro camera by pressing the connection and selecting "forget".

 

Now go back into the GoPro app and "add camera".  When asked "Is this the first time you have tried to connect your GoPro to the app" select "YES".  This will then bring you to the "searching" screen and you will then be asked to enter in the password to your camera.  

 

The only time you won't get past the screen showing you how to set up your wifi is if you select "No" when asked "Is this the first time you have tried to connect your GoPro to the app".

Hi @robvg

 

Try resetting your cameras Wi-Fi settings. Connect > Reset Connections, and then tap Reset.

Once done, proceed with the pairing process again. Note that the connection should be completed on the app itself, no need to go to the Settings of your phone.

 

HERO (2018) Pairing Process

  1. Open the GoPro App:
    • From the home page, tap the icon in the top left corner.
    • Tap on "Camera" (Android).
    • Tap on "HERO(2018) Black."
  2. Pick up your camera. 
    • Press the MODE button to power on your camera.
    • Open the utility drawer by swiping from the top to the bottom of the touch display. Then select CONNECT
    • Under CONNECTED DEVICES, tap on "Connect New Device."
    • Tap on "GoPro App". You will see the name and password for your camera.
  3. Go back to the GoPro App: 
    • Tap "Pair" to connect via Bluetooth. This will extend your GoPro’s battery life. 
    • Then tap "Join" to connect to the Wi-Fi on your camera.

Please note that you may need to delete the camera from the app and forget Bluetooth ID and Wi-Fi name on the settings on your phone.

Hej Ej thanks for your reply.

I tried this but i just get the manual how to reveal my wifi pass on the go pro. There is no option for entering the pass unless i go to wifi settings myself.

How ever the app doesnt go any further i just keeps playing the manual to show the wifi. There are no buttons no bluetooth connecting options.

I even erased all other wifi connections to make sure it does not interfere with the pairing.

Unfortunately no effect.
