Ok I think I understand.
You are using RAW default variation which fits the video to the screen. If you tap on the sliders on Raw you will see different graphics options > Fit middle / fit top / fill.
and you are in SQUARE format.
So you have black borders top and bottom.
Try Grammy video style and choose CINEMA format. Format option under wrench icon in Quik App.
Or try Raw but varion FILL and format CINEMA.
Hope I'm not loosing you! Ahahaha

Ahah, it's an interesting feedback because I've had users actively asking to get those black borders on top and bottom to get this cinema effects ;) What's the resolution you film at? What is the format option you choose in Quik?
If you shoot in 1080p and choose format Cinema in Quik you shouldn't have those borders. Know that there is also an option per media > FIT the screen or FILL the screen that you can play with.
Let me know if that helps.

In Quik I tried all 3 formats and saved the video in 3 versions to see if I could get rid of the cinema lines but it remained with all 3. Also tried all 3 using both Fill and Fit to screen.
I’m pretty good with tech things but this one had me confused, when I went on Instagram and looked for #quikstory or #quikstories most of the videos don’t have the cinema lines and fit a phone screen properly like I was hoping for.
I may just try another editing app if I can’t find a solution with Quik
Thanks for your reply.

Hi,
So can you send me an example of the issue? I'm trying to understand but I'm not sure I see what you mean / or can reproduce what you mean. I did a test filming in 2.7k and my video doesn't have black borders on top and bottom. Just walk me through it :)
Also, which video style are you using?
Are you trying to share as an Instagram Story? Or as a video in Instagram Feed or?
When you share on Instagram you have a little button on the buttom left corner to either fit the video or fill the screen to square.

That should be a link to he clips I put together.
I filmed as described and then used Quik to edit, used the “raw” style.
I saved it to my I pad and also to instagram as a post, when uploading any footage on insta the little fit to screen button is there but with my GoPro footage that option does not appear on Instagram
