where did my files go if the import failed. It said they where safe

I connect the camera and import the files and then selected to delete them after import.  I watch them on my Mac but them when i tried to edit it said te import failed and that i should disconnect the GoPro and restart the Quick App.  When i did that the files seem to have vanished from both the App, my hard drive and the computer.  Are they lost?

@robertt1446 - The files are stored on your computer, so they should be there unless you deleted the folder(s) they were in. Have you run a search for the files - ex. a search for mp4 file types or a file name that include "GOPR"?
