quik will not open on display

Running Windows 10 Pro, generally I plug in the camera and Quik opens and I can use it (worked yesterday). Today I got home from my Trike ride, plugged in my camera (HERO 5 Black) waited a few minutes,Quik shows up in the Task Bar, but will not display on either of my monitorsa. I can hover my mouse pointer over Quik in the task bar and I can see what the window should look like but can't get it to open onto a window on the monitor. Have uninstalled the app, rebooted, reinstalled the app, rebooted - same problem as before, I verified that it wasn't being displayed on any other Virtual Desktops - it wasn't. I use my HERO 5 everyday or at least everytime I get on my Trike and go for a ride. Appreciate any insight on how to correct this behavior, removing the SD Card and pulling the movies off manually is a royal PItA.

Thank you for responding, went through the suggested troubleshooting tips in the article (Quik for Desktop fails to Launch).  I am on a Windows 10 Pro (64) system, have Quik for Windows version 2.6.2.841.  My username does not contain any non-English Characters. As far as I can determine I am connected to the Internet, can access your website easily, get new email, browse the news sites andeverything else. I disconnected the Ethernet cable and executed Quik, acted as before appears to open to a point that it shows up in the task bar, but doesn't open a windows on the screen. Reconnected the Ethernet cable andf tried the Compatibility Mode part. Won't even show up on the Task Bar.  Logged in as a Local Administrator nad executed Quik - it opened successfully.  Logged out and then logged in with my normal account. deleted the goproapp.json file and then executed Quik - same problem as before.  Tried to download the Media feature pack for Windows N Systems, Microsoft error message that the Media Feature Pack is not for my system.  In the email you asked if the SD card + adapter opened Quik - No it did not. I used File Explorer to copy the MP4 files to the PC.

So I am back to where I started - doesn't open a window on the display (screen). I installed the software on my Notebook and experience the EXACT same thing.

Thank you for the details that you provided. I understand it is a hassle, but does using the SD card + adapter open up Quik? See if the steps to fix discussed in this article (Quik for Desktop fails to Launch) will help. Let us know how it goes.

Been playing with this all morning, FIXED! 

It seems the Quik window became an 'off-screen window' 

Followed 'Move Off-Screen Window back On-Screen from Taskbar' instructions found online, various computer sites.

 

Sorry for wasting your time.

Hey @korbendallaz,

 

When you say you followed the "Move Off-Screen Window back On-Screen from Taskbar" instructions, are you saying that the Quik for desktop icon was on your lower task bar, but the window wouldn't appear? You're saying that the application was almost minimized, but you couldn't do anything to maximize it, correct?

 

I'm asking because the online troubleshooting doesn't cover that type of symptom. That article only covers what happens when you attempt to open it, but absolutely nothing happens. No icons appear, but you can see the process in the task manager.

Trying to describe a situation (problem) with any computer, terminology is the key to everytning.  What you are describing is exactly what I was trying to describe.  Yes, Quik was displayed on the taskbar (whether it was lower position (default) or in my case on the ride side of the screen - my choice) I could see that Quik was in execution from the Task Manager and the icon was displayed in the task bar, as far as whether Quik was minimized or full screen could not be determined. I have 2 - 24 inch gaming monitors on this computer, when I am updating the video driver for my Titan X, both displays will go blank and open windows will redisplay back to the primary display. I don't always close all windows when I perform the update, this habit will change This may have created the probem.  Having dual monitors is nice, but they can create some new and interesting issues. Hope this helps the visual picture.
