gps data not captured

I travelled from Australia to the US, and I wanted to capture GPS data for a hot lap in a vehicle.

I made sure to turn GPS on while in the States - and it's still 'on' in my Hero5 Black settings.

Day was perfectly clear, no overhead coverage of note. Nothing on the camera told me that GPS wasn't engaged.

However, when I imported the file into Quik, it tells me that no GPS data was captured.

The only reason I bought this camera was for this very function, and it's failed first time out. Advice would be appreciated.

Re: gps data not captured

The camera doesn't tell you if no GPS satellites have been aquired but will show you if it has GPS lock. The symbol looks like an upside down tear drop with a hole in it. It's located next to the Wi-Fi connection symbol on the top left of the screen. If the symbol is grey when you start recording, GPS data will not be stored, even if the camera obtains GPS while the recording is going on. To ensure the GPS data gets stored you must first turn on the camera and wait for GPS lock. Once the symbol turns white you can start recording
