I have the hero 7 black, trying to set up and use quik as a video editor and it doesn't seem to recognize all the files. Only a few of them.
I have the videos loaded into a file on my PC.
I do have premier pro and edit videos all the time. I am able to get the files there and edit with no problem. I have a Travel show and I wanted to see how easy it would be for an average traveler if they had a gopro and wanted to edit the videos using a Free editing program.
So far it seems the Gopro's actual program doesn't even work? is there other Free editing software for beginers?
not sure I can reccomend a gopro for the average user?

Thanks for reaching out. By any chance, are your videos recorded in HEVC format? Quik for Desktop will copy the HEVC files to your computer, but they won't appear in the application's Media gallery.
Alternatively, you can check this list of editing applications that work well with GoPro files as shared by a Hub member.
There are also some software suggestions in this article that will help.
If you would like product or tutorial videos to better understand these other applications, I recommend searching online video hosting websites (such as Youtube, Vimeo, etc) for published videos or other 3rd party generated content.

I believe that is what the Hero 7 records in?
So basically the GoPro editing software doesn't even work with the GoPro footage? I try and shoot in 4k.
again I can edit using premier pro but trying to figure out if this GoPro is something an average vacationer/traveler can use.
So far that answer is a big no...I even had to spend a bunch of money to upgrade my computer, and buy the newer editing software to be able to use it.
I will check out your link to the other options.

@davidlpeters, not all GoPro footage are in HEVC format. Videos in H.264 (MP4) codec will be imported to Quik for Desktop.
Feel free to post back if anything else comes up. Stay stoked, and have fun capturing moments using your GoPro!

I understand but I try to use the camer to it's fullest by shooting 4k and either 30 or 60 fps.
Hope gopro will come up with a nice free editing software for beginners that will work.
again so far I really can't reccomend this for the average vacationer or traveler yet.
