Why, when I use the "create a video clip" function, does the resulting video go black?

It could be that your computer is running out of system resources. What are your computer specs? What resolution/frame rate is your original video? Are you mixing resolution/fps videos? What resolution/frame rate are you exporting the video into? Are your import and export locations the default locations or have you changed them? Do you have enough hard drive space?

Try these steps and see if any of them work.
1) First, and easiest, give your video a simple one word name

2) Could be that Quick is having an issue with your GPU. With Quik closed, try opening it by right clicking on the icon and selecting, "Run with integrated graphics card".

3) If you are a Windows N 10 User, try installing the Media Feature Pack for Windows N systems https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53356

4) Locate and delete the goproapp.json file
a. Close Quick and then follow these steps
Navigate to C:\Users\OldUserName>\AppData\Local\GoPro\goproapp.json
Delete the goproapp.json file and relaunch Quik for desktop.

5) Try only editing 1080p or lower resolution videos with a fps of 24, 30, or 60 (not 120 or 240)

6) Finally, Upload you footage to GoPro Plus and then move or delete the footage from your computer.  Download the footage and then edit.  When you upload the video will be converted into a more usable format.

My computer:

-i7-7700HQ 2.80GHz

-16GB RAM DDR4

-256GB SSD

-GeForce GTX 1050

I tried all the options that you mentioned, and it doesn't work.
