Webcam app CPU hog

[ New ]
Is there a new version of the Mac app? I looked all over and couldn’t find one. The one I have (1.0.224) is awful and a big CPU hog.

Thanks!

Hello, @sprycreek88054. The one you have installed is the latest version. What seems to be the issue with the current version?

It’s unstable and takes up too much processing power, like 30% with my 2-year old MacBook Pro.

Any new version coming up?

Hi @sprycreek88054

I am also having this problem. My Macbook Pro 15" 2016, Big Sur, Hero 9, GoPro Labs Beta Firmware

When using the GoPro Webcam app with Zoom it eats 95% or so of my Mac CPU and then the WebCamDaemon eats another 45% or so. The CPU usage is so bad that my Mac is periodically locking up (mouse won't respond) while I am on Zoom mtgs with video.

Hi @rodh45288

What version of the app are you using?

Would you be able to test this with another user account on your Mac?

Thanks!

Ej

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)

macOS Big Sur 11.2

gopro webcam 1.0.224

GoPro8 lastest software

Just after lunching preview

GoProWebcamDaemon is consuming 40%+ cpu

GoPro Webcam 15%+, after 2 minutes 30%

After another 10-20 minutes of continues usage, video is becoming very cyberpunkish ..
