One thing I need/like to do with my GoPro footage (often from motorcycle, MTB, snowboard and such) is slice it up to keep the best bits and make finding it for edits much easier, and dumping footage I'm never going to use to save space and searching. I wanted to be able to do this without a generational re-encode, so I've been using MP4Tools for the Mac
It's been working reliably for years for me, and is cheap if you want to pay (I did). One caveat is it's only Mac but is based on open source projects, and there are likely equivalents available and on other platforms. Another caveat is that it seems to break some metadata (I suspect as it's appended outside the .mp4 spec?).
I note this as a feature request as this seems like something Quik should be able to do, and without breaking the gauges metadata? Does it do this and I didn't notice? ( I edit mainly in Da Vinci Resolve, so I dont spend much time in it). They key is the cutting/splicing, not in re-encoding.
