Upload media to GoPro Plus

[ New ]

Hi

I'm trying to upload videos taken with my GoPro 7 Black to GoPro Plus. I try to use the Auto-upload. It works with small files but not with larger ones. And if I try to manually upload from the camera, it says that ther is no new to upload, but there is!

If I try to upload the larger files manually via gopro.com I get "Some of your files didn't make it. Try uploading these again..." I can try till I die, it doesn't succeed anyway.

Are there any solutions to my problems?

I think that for now, you need to use the Quik Desktop app for uploading larger files. I haven't noticed the camera auto upload not working, but I generally work with smaller video clips. I have seen that the gopro.com manual upload is being worked on, but is limited to smaller files.

Hello @tompa68. We will check with the team on this. By any chance, would you have details on what is considered a large file (or not), like the actual file size perhaps? Also, other specifics like resolution settings used, duration, network upload speed, would be greatly helpful. We hope to hear back from you. Many thanks!

I'm having the same problem. I am trying to upload 2.7k 60fps videos, up to 2GB in size. I only have 2 Mbps upload, so it takes awhile for every file. I've only been successful at uploading an 11 second and a 1 minute file (individually), and since uploading the 1 minute file, nothing has worked. It almost seems as if the website is logging me out in the middle of the upload.

Hi @theketchupman

How are you adding the video to your Plus account?

Add Media to GoPro Plus

For longer videos, it is best if you upload via Quik application.

Thanks!

Is there a maximum limit for the upload on the gopro plus website? There is nothing stating that I should use Quik to upload larger files. Why is there an option to drag files and folders over if I shouldn't use it?

Also, I've downloaded Quik and it's not at all intuitive as to how I can upload to the cloud. I imported media and there's options to share. Which includes creating a link, but when I create the link, there is no indication that it's uploading. The website at least gives me a progress bar.

Also, from your link for "how to upload" with Quik, it shows how to set "automatically upload". I don't have the bandwidth to upload all of the videos I take. If I can't selectively upload them in some selective fashion, I won't be able to upload them.

It also seems like the website is asking me to log in costantly. Any time I come to check on the progress for an upload (or click on reply on this forum), I am redirected to the login page and asked to log in again. This kind of seems related, since it's  happening on the upload page.

I see 4 file types (.JPG, .LRV, .MP4, .THM) on the GoPro SD card. Do I drag all of them to the Add Media box on Plus.GoPro.com?

@johnlynn

  • JPG - are Photos (Upload to GoPro Plus)
  • LRV -  are Low Resolution Videos (for displaying on a mobile device via the GoPro app.  You don't need these, unless you want a low resolution copy of your video as backup)
  • MP4 - These are your full resolution videos (Upload to GoPro Plus)
  • THM - These are thumbnail files, similar to LRV but for Photos

@johnlynn, the .LRV and .THM files are only necessary to support the Copy, Playback, and Share functionality in the latest version of the GoPro App. You mainly just need the MP4 and JPG files in your Plus storage.

The app plan and simple sucks. I keep getting the login thing too, but even when you login again, there are no answers and no help. The app tells me to go to my settings to connect to WiFi, and when I go there, it says I’m connected. GoPro you need to get this **bleep** figured out.

Hi @harleygirl2019

Please go over these steps.

If using a Mac:

Click GO in finder and GO TO FOLDER
Then please type  /private/etc/hosts then press Go
Copy the host file on your Desktop.
Click open the "host" file and put in 127.0.0.1 localhost at the location. Save the File, then put it BACK the same folder it will ask you to replace it.

Relaunch the app and go to the login screen and input your credentials. You should then be able to login successfully.

If using a Windows computer:

Open Quik for desktop
While on the login screen, select the “Help” tab above the Quik for desktop window
Select “Restart with default settings”
A modal will appear saying “Are you sure?“. Click “Restart” once more.
Quik for desktop will close and reopen. Quik for desktop will appear as if you installed it for the first time.
Go to the login screen and input your credentials.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!
