Quik vs. HEVC on Windows 10 (with the HEVC extensions)

On a i9-9900K with 32GB of memory, and a 1070ti graphics card, Quik is so slow, it's useless. The only thing you can do in the app is to play the HEVC videos from start to finish, no scrubbing FFwarding or anything like that.
Create mode, clip trimming or anything besides playing back the video (and not touching anything), will turn the application into choppyness city, and it will quite promptly crash.
Fix it please? Its basically not usable in its current state.
